A string of armed carjackings and robberies across Baltimore that occurred from July 26 to 27 has culminated in the arrest of a 13-year-old boy, who police identified using GPS data from his ankle monitor. As reported by FOX Baltimore, the juvenile suspect has a history of 18 prior felony arrests, and now faces charges that include carjacking, robbery, and assault.

According to police, the first incident took place on July 26th when two male juveniles attempted a carjacking at 2510 Ashton Street and the victim, after being struck with an unknown black object by the suspects who enter her vehicle, managed to reverse her car, leading to the suspects' flight from the scene, said Baltimore Police in a statement obtained by FOX Baltimore. The following day, a woman was carjacked in the 100 Block of East Lanvale Street by three suspects who demanded her keys, wallet, and phone, subsequently fleeing in her vehicle, followed by the car they arrived in.

Baltimore Police later responded to an armed robbery on Madison Avenue the same day, where the victim was approached by three males, one brandishing a handgun, around 5:00 a.m., and was robbed of her purse containing money and house keys, WBAL-TV reported. The investigative break leading to the arrest came when the GPS ankle monitor system the young suspect was equipped with placed him at each crime scene, assuring detectives of his involvement.

The police were able to quickly identify the 13-year-old suspect due to the GPS data provided by his ankle monitor, tracing his movements to each crime scene, and in a coordinated effort led by the Baltimore Police Department investigators tracked down both the suspects' vehicle and the stolen vehicle which were located on the 500 block of Highland Avenue and the 13-year-old was subsequently arrested and transported to juvenile booking, in the ongoing investigation officers hope to identify the remaining suspects involved in the series of criminal activities.
