Firefighters in Burbank encountered an atypical challenge this Thursday when they had to extricate a woman from the "Snow Day!" game at a local Chuck E. Cheese. The Burbank Fire Department responded to a rescue call just before 3 p.m. at the popular family entertainment center located on North San Fernando Boulevard, as reported by NBC Los Angeles. Video of the incident showed the woman's arm trapped inside the game's clear tubular enclosure.
Onlookers watched as rescue teams worked swiftly to safely to free the individual from the machine. According to CBS News, crews were on scene for about 20 minutes before they were able to liberate her hand from the game. Fortunately, the woman was not injured during the incident, which BFD categorized as minor.
The "Snow Day!" game invites players to step into a clear tube and try to score points by placing balls into a hole. Despite the unforeseen mishap, a Chuck E. Cheese spokesperson emphasized the game's safety for its intended audience. "We prioritize children's safety above all and have verified that the game poses no risk to our young guests," the spokesperson told FOX LA. The statement reiterated that the patron was playing a game designed for children when she stuck her arm into a part not meant for hands or arms.
Following the rescue, the woman remained at the restaurant and, as stated by the same Chuck E. Cheese's spokesperson, "continued to enjoy an evening of fun with the family." This incident in Burbank happened amid recent news of a Chuck E. Cheese character performer's arrest in Florida, which gained media traction, though unrelated to the Burbank event. The company, known for its blend of food, amusement games, and animatronic entertainment, continues to deal with these isolated events while ensuring its venues remain a safe place for family entertainment.
