A Cambridge man has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of over 15 years following his guilty plea on charges of methamphetamine trafficking. According to court records, 37-year-old Kevin Ray Marcano's conviction stemmed from a scheme involving the shipment of significant quantities of the drug throughout various parts of the United States, including to an individual in Jacksonville, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
From March 2022 to July 2023, Marcano was deeply embedded in a distribution network, sending roughly five packages each with about ten pounds of methamphetamine to the Jacksonville customer. Following his plea on April 22, U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger sentenced Marcano on the evidence of his extensive crime, which carried on nearly a year and a half.
The Jacksonville customer had evidently received shipments consistently before placing another sizeable order in September 2023. Marcano dispatched a four-pound methamphetamine shipment in return for $4,900, adding to the pattern of drug distribution. Within a mere five days, the customer received the shipment, as indicated by the criminal proceedings.
This drug trafficking enterprise came to an end due to the joint efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations. Tim Hemker, the Homeland Security Investigations Assistant Special Agent in Charge in Jacksonville, emphasized the impact of Marcano's operations, stating, "This criminal was responsible to shipping large quantities of methamphetamine across the country, fueling addiction and poisoning communities far beyond his own." The collapse of this nationwide narcotics distribution network credited the vigilance and dedication of HSI and FBI special agents, as per the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
