In a substantial drug interdiction at the Del Rio Port of Entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers confiscated over $730,000 worth of methamphetamine. The seizure, announced in a CBP news release, underscores the persistent efforts to curb illegal narcotics trafficking across the U.S. border.

CBP's vigilant monitoring paid off on August 25, as officers conducted a thorough inspection at the Del Rio International Bridge. A 2004 Dodge Ram, manned by a 30-year-old male Mexican citizen and U.S. resident alien, was flagged for a detailed secondary inspection. After utilizing CBP canines and a nonintrusive inspection system, officers discovered eight packages of alleged methamphetamine concealed within stone benches – carrying an estimated street value of $730,378.

Port Director Liliana Flores lauded the efforts of the officers, stating, “Our frontline CBP officers remain ever vigilant as they conduct their daily inspectional duties.” She further emphasized their commitment to border security and the safety of border communities, adding, “This significant meth seizure exemplifies our ongoing commitment to our border security mission and to keep our border communities safe,” as mentioned on the CBP release.

The narcotics was subsequently seized by CBP, and the driver finds himself in custody thanks to the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who took charge of the arrest and initiated a criminal investigation.
