Cincinnati's political landscape is about to shift as State Rep. Sedrick Denson of Ohio's 26th House District has decided to resign from his position, a move effective come Friday, August 8th. As was announced earlier this week, Denson, who has served Hamilton County throughout his current, fourth term, cited an upcoming opportunity to continue his service in a new capacity as the reason behind his departure, according to a statement obtained by the Ohio House of Representatives' official news release.
"This decision has been one of the hardest choices I’ve had to make in my entire life," Denson was quoted and, emphasizing his strong ties to Ohio, he continued, "it will forever be one of my greatest honors representing the people of Cincinnati and Hamilton County," per the Ohio House of Representatives' official news release, thanking his constituents for their support and for their shared work on critical issues like education and healthcare expansion, his sense of loss at stepping down was palpable. However, he maintained an optimistic view on Ohio's future.
Throughout his tenure, Denson, a lifelong Cincinnati resident and University of Cincinnati alum, was known for his contributions on committees such as the House Financial Institutions Committee, Natural Resources Committee, and the Technology and Innovation Committee, his work reflecting a commitment to the pillars of a thriving community.
