The Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority has started work on the Senator Joseph M. Neal, Jr. Apartments, an affordable housing project for seniors. The development will serve residents aged 55 and older, as reported by the Clark County Nevada.
A new housing project honoring the late Sen. Joseph M. Neal, Jr., Nevada’s first African American state senator, will include 192 units for seniors. The development will offer one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 713 to 960 square feet. It is designed for individuals and couples earning between 30 and 60 percent of the Area Median Income, as stated by the Clark County Nevada.
According to Clark County Nevada on their X account, the county is providing $9.5 million—$8 million from the Community Housing Funds and $1.5 million from the Home Investment Partnership Program—for the construction of new apartments for seniors. The housing project is named after a man who spent nearly three decades advocating for Nevadans.
