Clark County announced that applications for the Chap Rental Assistance Program are now closed. The Eviction Prevention and Fixed Income Rent Assistance programs are ending as funds run out. Remaining applications will still be processed in the order received, with priority for the elderly and people with disabilities, according to the Clark County.
The Las Vegas Justice Court Eviction Diversion program helps tenants avoid eviction by providing legal aid and rental assistance. Clark County reported that the Nevada Legislature has added $15 million to the program to support its work for residents facing housing instability.
Jamie Sorenson, Clark County Director of Social Services, said, "This funding has been in place since COVID-19, and our programming has adapted to meet the needs of our community. While the funding is reaching exhaustion, I am proud that over 73,000 residents have been assisted, and we continue to work to support those in need of other resources as best as we can." Residents needing help can contact the Social Services Call Center at 702-455-4270 or visit the Civil Law Self Help Center online or at 200 Lewis Avenue for information on eviction prevention and other programs.
