A Clarkston man, Thomas Mellick Hensler, age 38, has pleaded no contest to several charges, including accosting a minor, after leaving a sexually explicit note on a 17-year-old girl's car outside an Auburn Hills Target store.
Authorities found Hensler in his vehicle near the store after they texted the number left on the note and discovered drugs and sex toys upon searching the car, this incident leading to charges that also include using a computer to commit a crime and possession of methamphetamine, as noted by ClickOnDetroit. Hensler's plea will result in prison time and he will also be required to register as a sex offender, facing up to 10 years for accosting a minor, 20 years for using a computer in the commission of a crime, and an additional 10 years for the drug charge, taking into account his status as a habitual offender.
Hensler is set to be sentenced on November 5 after his plea in Oakland County Circuit Court, according to court records and statements from Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald who mentioned, "This outcome holds Henlser accountable and protects the victim from the stress testifying in court," as reported by MidMichiganNow.
In recent weeks, similar incidents involving the accostment of minors have surfaced in Michigan, with individuals in Trenton and Hillsdale County facing charges for related criminal activities including attempts to meet underage girls and sexual assault charges dating back to 2008.
