The streets of Dallas might just be a little safer as of this July, thanks to Operation Justice Trail's intense crackdown on violent crime. In the latest monthly roundup, 96 individuals with a history of violent offenses were apprehended, accumulating over 307 prior arrests among them. The operation, which commenced on May 1, has seen a total of 293 suspected violent criminals taken into custody, with their prior arrests tallying over 1,600. These results indicate a relentless pursuit of justice by the Dallas Police Department, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals’ North Texas Fugitive Task Force.
Dallas Police Chief Daniel C. Comeaux painted a picture of a widespread manhunt whereby "criminals are finding out that they will be located, no matter where they go." As reported by the Dallas Police Department, the task force has been successful in tracking fugitives across borders, capturing those who fled to Dallas from other areas, and apprehending those who left the city in attempts to evade the long arm of the law. This cross-jurisdictional effort reflects a tightening net around those who would inflict harm upon the community.
The police department has not stood alone in this endeavor, acknowledging the valuable support of Crime Stoppers. Their contribution to the mission manifests in the form of a standing reward, ensuring that information leading to the arrest of a violent felony suspect could fetch a sum of $1,000.
