The City of Dearborn is reviving a local music tradition that's been a cornerstone of community culture for over four decades: 'Music Under the Stars' is set to light up PEACE Park West in September with two concerts that are free to the public. According to an announcement from the City of Dearborn, the Dearborn Symphony will perform on September 5, leading the comeback at 8 p.m., while the National Arab Orchestra will follow with a performance on September 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Residents who have been hungry for some alfresco musical fare since the program's unexpected hiatus in 2020 can now mark their calendars. Located at 22271 West Village Dr., the park's new venue offers a change of scenery with its inaugural Music Under the Stars events - held under candlelight no less. For residents planning to attend, while refreshments are on offer at the park, bringing a chair or blanket might be a good idea, the city suggests.
Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud, emphasizing the community aspect of the event, said, per the City of Dearborn, "The Music Under the Stars program has been a cherished tradition for over 40 years, bringing performances from the area’s vibrant music scene right to the community. We’re proud to bring this tradition back and offer a welcoming space to enjoy diverse musical performances under the stars, enhanced by the glow of candlelight, in beautiful PEACE Park West. It's a platform for community engagement, allowing people to connect with others and celebrate our shared culture through the power of music." The sense of cultural fellowship is tangible in Hammoud's anticipation.
