The Best Southwest region is gearing up to host the annual Hispanic Heritage Fest, a dynamic event spotlighting Hispanic culture. Set for Saturday, September 20, at Armstrong Park in Duncanville, the festival promises a full slate of activities, from a vibrant parade kickoff at 3:00 p.m. to a plethora of performances that span the entire day. According to an announcement on Duncanville's official website, thousands from Duncanville, Cedar Hill, DeSoto, and Lancaster will join the celebration that honors Hispanic traditions, music, food, and culture.
Beginning with a parade that showcases various local entities—ranging from schools and businesses to community groups—the fest looks vibrant from the word go. Spectators wondering what's on the docket can expect an array of high-energy performances, including Latin beats from Jangueo and a nostalgic tribute to Tejano music by Tejano Queen Forever. Los Tigrillos will take the stage later, capping the night with their signature norteño vibes, and Ballet Folklórico Huehuecoyotl, along with the Duncanville High School Spanish Club, will engage audiences with captivating dance displays and cultural pride. Despite having its wings clipped due to the pandemic, the event seems to have come back stronger and more resolute in its celebration of community.
Besides the auditory and visual treats, the festival is set to host a marketplace for vendors and food trucks that offer authentic culinary delights. Activities tailored for families and numerous cultural showcases promise a comprehensive portrayal of the Hispanic community’s diversity and unity. "The Best Southwest Hispanic Heritage Fest is free and open to the public," highlighted Duncanville's announcement, noting that applications are still welcome for parade entries, food, and market vendors eager to be part of one of the area's most anticipated cultural gatherings.
