
A deadly collision between a motorcycle and tractor-trailer brought US-95 to a standstill Monday afternoon, claiming at least one life and forcing authorities to shut down the critical highway near Lee Canyon Road. According to Las Vegas Review-Journal, US-95 remained closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation. Traffic was getting by on the right shoulder with significant delays while crews worked to clear the scene, as reported by 8 News Now.
Rising Motorcycle Fatalities
This latest tragedy adds to an alarming trend of motorcycle deaths in the Las Vegas area. The concerning pattern shows motorcycle deaths have significantly increased compared to previous years.
According to KTNV, nine deadly crashes involved motorcycles this year compared to only two motorcycle-involved fatal crashes last year. Traffic safety data from Easton Law Offices reveals that 37% of drivers in fatal motorcycle accidents were speeding, while 33% were under the influence of alcohol.
