A tragic shooting at Tacoma's MultiCare Allenmore Hospital Wednesday evening resulted in the death of a man and left a woman injured, as confirmed by the Tacoma Police Department. As per KOMO News, authorities received calls just after 7 p.m. about gunfire at 1900 South Union Street. Arriving at the hospital, officers discovered two gunshot victims.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the woman was reported to be in stable condition, details provided by the Tacoma Police Department suggested that the violence did not start as an active shooter scenario, rather, it was tied to an earlier altercation at a different location. No one is currently held in custody for the shooting incident, which heightens the disquiet in a city already vexed by recent gun violence, according to KOMO News.

Adding to the city's string of shootings, King5 reports that just a day prior, another man was critically injured by gunfire in the Salishan area of Tacoma. The victim was taken to the hospital and remains stable. Authorities are on the hunt for a male suspect in connection with that shooting, as relayed by Tacoma Police Department officer Shelbie Boyd and reported by Hindustan Times. No arrest has been made in this case as well.

A family member told CBS Seattle affiliate KIRO-TV that the hospital shooting involved a 21-year-old woman and her boyfriend, who was killed. Before the shooting, the pair got into a fight and were followed into the ER by the suspected shooter who then opened fire. The hospital issued a statement indicating that it is on restricted access, but the ER remains open for walk-in patients, "all MultiCare staff are safe and unharmed."

Images from the earlier aftermath of the hospital shooting showed a police cordon around the ambulance bay, with KOMO News reporter Jeremy Harris tweeting, "Images from the scene right now. Police have the ambulance bay blocked off. We believe the shooting happened near the entrance to the ER." As the investigation persists, the community and the authorities hope for a quick resolution to bring justice, and perhaps scarcely, solace in the face of such loss and trepidation.
