A Florida woman has found herself facing serious charges after making a bomb threat to the University of Central Florida. The altercation, fueled by alcohol, was recorded in court documents that detail the events of a May evening when the suspect, 29-year-old Kristin Galli, called UCF's Student Care Services and delivered a volatile message. According to FOX 35 Orlando, Galli stated on the phone, "I'm gonna f****** blow you guys up," and then disconnected the call abruptly.
Identified by her voicemail box and phone number, which were on file as a UCF student, Galli's impulsive act was followed by silence; she did not respond to a return call from Student Care Services. It was then revealed that she sent an excess of 200 "incoherent" text messages to a UCF professor, sharing the same number used to place the threat and also including pictures of herself, as reported by the professor and outlined in the arrest affidavit.
In a conversation with the police the day after the incident, Galli tried to explain the phone call made under the influence of alcohol. In a statement obtained by ClickOrlando, she admitted to saying, "I thought it would be funny, and I was drunk when I called." This admission of a misguided attempt at humor and anger results in her facing charges for false reporting of a bombing on a state-owned property and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
The incident, which gathered attention due to its severity and the subsequent arrest, propels Galli closer to the legal repercussions that are set to be determined in an upcoming court appearance. Scheduled to contend with her actions officially, Galli is expected in court on Thursday, as the case against her approaches its next phase and the consequences of her drunken outburst continue to unfold.
