For those who've served their country and are looking to seamlessly transition back into civilian employment, NextOp, in partnership with the City of Fort Worth, is set to provide a significant boost. The nonprofit known for successfully connecting post-9/11 veterans with meaningful employment is rolling out the first Veteran Employment Workshop & Career Fair in Fort Worth on Friday, September 26, according to the City of Fort Worth.
This career fair is not your run-of-the-mill job hunting event. It's elegantly designed to rapidly marry veterans' skills with the needs of eager employers, a process that's apt to quickly yield tangible job offers. Unlike traditional job fairs, this one intends to carefully engineer each interaction between veterans and potential employers to be as fruitful as possible, with the goal being to decisively hire or to arrange serious follow-up talks.
Since its inception, NextOp has championed the cause of placing veterans in rewarding careers, with more than 5,000 such success stories where enlisted individuals found jobs that paid, on average, $60,000 annually. After branching out to North Texas in June 2024, NextOp has facilitated the transition for more than 115 veterans into roles averaging $74,000. Such numbers signify not just jobs, but roles that respect the skills and sacrifices of our service members.
What's on offer for veterans at this fair is comprehensive. They're set to receive tailored resume support, interview preparation, and guidance, all while they'll get to interact with recruiters and hiring managers poised to make immediate offers. This comprehensive approach ensures that the veterans not only get to showcase their wide range of skills but also to genuinely explore opportunities that recognize their immense value.
But the support doesn't end with employment. Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) will also be on the ground, providing essential non-employment services and offering opportunities to enhance veteran success across the region. This workshop and career fair endeavor to encompass the gamut of needs a transitioning service member might have.
The event details are as follows: it will take place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Will Rogers Memorial Center – Stagecoach Room in Fort Worth. Veterans who are interested can register at the provided link and kickstart what could very well be the next chapter in their civilian life stories.
