Yesterday, deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station made moves to ensure that registered sex offenders and arsonists were sticking to the rule book. During a compliance operation, involving the Sheriff’s Station Investigations Bureau and Special Enforcement Team, they checked in to see that 35 registered individuals were keeping up with the state laws and terms of their probation or parole, as per the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Despite the rigorous scrutiny, four residents in the Perris area were caught stepping out of line.
The operation was not without its consequences; notable for the individuals who found themselves back in the grips of the law, caught in a moment when their past seemed to overtake their present. Arrests included 40-year-old Anthony Akens and 31-year-old Richard Perez, both on parole violations, with Akens being from Perris and Perez hailing from nearby Mead Valley, according to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Felipe Munoz, 58, and Steele Aguire, 33, also from Perris, found themselves on the wrong side of compliance; Munoz for violating Post-Release Community Supervision and Aguire for probation issues.
The four men, finding little solace in their current situation, were booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has expressed that this is an active investigation and is pressing the public for more information. Investigators, keeping the gears of justice turning, encourage anyone who knows anything more about this operation or related incidents, to reach out and touch base with Investigator Milian. Tipsters can make a call to the Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or straight to the Perris Station at (951) 210-1000.
