In a report that casts a shadow over a South Tacoma neighborhood, the Tacoma Police Department took to social media to detail the unsettling events that unfolded on the evening of August 6, when a gunman's malice left one man dead and a woman injured in a shooting at the 1900 block of South Union. Officers, summoned by the sharp cry of disaster just after 7:00 p.m., found two individuals marred by bullets upon their arrival, as stated in a post on the department’s official Facebook page.
Medical teams acted quickly, but the male victim’s injuries were too severe, and he died at the scene. The female victim was injured but survived and was released from the hospital after brief treatment.
Persistence in the face of this grim mystery yielded results; the diligent work by detectives culminated in a breakthrough when a 25-year-old male suspect was identified and taken into custody last Friday in an operation that spanned multiple jurisdictions, bringing together the efforts of local Tacoma detectives, the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Spokane Police Department. The cooperative enterprise in Kittitas County led to the suspect's apprehension without further incident, and he was booked on charges of Murder in the First Degree and Assault in the First Degree, ushering in the first wave of justice in this case. As the investigation continues, detectives and Crime Scene Technicians are working to uncover the motive and details behind the violence.
