Henderson Police responded to a domestic violence and human trafficking report at a local business on Galleria Drive this Monday. The officers attempted to take 35-year-old Jose Alvarez into custody, which led to a vehicle pursuit and his eventual arrest, as detailed in a statement posted on the City of Henderson's official website.
When officers encountered Alvarez at the facility where the victim was found, the man fled on foot after being escorted outside, stumbling into a nearby parking lot. There, he commandeered a vehicle, hitting a woman who managed to leap into the rear cargo area. Alvarez, along with an elderly woman and three minors who were inside the vehicle, led officers on a chase that was promptly ended when police safely disabled the vehicle.
After their medical evaluation for minor injuries, Alvarez was booked at the Henderson Detention Center on multiple charges, which included kidnapping, robbery, battery with a deadly weapon, among others. The Henderson Police Department ensures the commitment to the safety of the community and the victims' confidentiality by withholding further details during the active investigation.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with knowledge regarding the case to contact the Henderson Police Department, use the city's 3-1-1 system, or remain anonymous by reaching out to Crime Stoppers, who offer possible cash rewards for information leading to felony arrests or indictments. Additionally, the Henderson Police Department's Victim/Witness Advocate program is available for those impacted by crimes and needing assistance. The suspect as well as the occupants sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries, as revealed by the City of Henderson.
