A Heat Advisory has been issued for northeast and northern Florida and southeast Georgia, with heat index values expected to reach up to 111 degrees from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT today. The combination of high temperatures and humidity may cause heat-related illnesses, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jacksonville.
The Heat Advisory covers areas including Suwannee, St. Johns, Echols, and Nassau counties, as well as cities such as Jacksonville, Palm Coast, and St. Augustine. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned spaces, and check on relatives and neighbors.
Showers and thunderstorms are also possible throughout the weekend. The National Weather Service advises taking necessary precautions to reduce the risk of heat-related health issues.
