
Kecia Perkinson has been promoted to park superintendent at North Carolina’s Kerr Lake State Recreation Area. She will work alongside lead superintendent Bill Stanley and will oversee operations, administration, education, and visitor services.
According to the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources release, Perkinson has worked at Kerr Lake for more than 20 years, starting as a seasonal employee before serving as a park ranger. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in recreation and parks management.
Kerr Lake State Recreation Area, located along the North Carolina-Virginia border, includes more than 800 miles of shoreline and offers camping, boating, fishing, swimming, and hiking. The park attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
The N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation, under the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, manages Kerr Lake along with more than 264,000 acres across the state. The division oversees state parks, recreation areas, and natural areas, balancing conservation with public use.
