In a move aimed at bolstering safety and easing the flow of traffic, the city has heralded the forthcoming activation of a new traffic signal. This addition, situated at the crossroads of Ball Park Road and Dyer Blvd, arrives as a countermeasure to the distressing spate of 68 crashes recorded at this juncture from February 2024 to February 2025, according to the City of Kissimmee's official announcement.
The construction, bearing a $1 million price tag, wrapped up last Friday, with only the electric meter installation remaining to be effectively completed. Once this step is finalized, additional measures, including programming and testing, will unfold soon to eventually set the signal flashing and then to fully operational status. Despite concurring inspections and approvals from Osceola County Traffic Operations being something of a formality, the new signal is expected to be up and running early next month.
Road users can expect to be duly alerted to the new traffic control measures, with variable message boards set to be deployed seven days in advance of the signal's activation. Commuters and locals alike are impelled to stay abreast of this and other projects by tuning into the City's website and social media channels for the latest updates, as shared in the city's statement.
