Two men involved in a fatal dispute rooted in gang rivalries and hip-hop feuds were convicted of first-degree murder last week. Hakeem Robinson, known in the rap community as Ksoo, alongside Leroy Whitaker, also known as ATK Scotty, faced a jury for their involvement in the 2020 killing of local rapper Charles McCormick Jr., who performed under the name Lil' Buck.
The incident, according to Action News Jax, was sparked by a diss track aimed at Willie Addison, Robinson's half-brother. After a brief three-and-a-half-hour deliberation, the juries concluded that both Whitaker and Robinson, purported members of the ATK Gang, were responsible for the death of McCormick, who prosecutors say was affiliated with a rival gang known as 6block.
The details surrounding the case unveiled during the trial depicted a chilling narrative of premeditated violence. State Attorney Melissa Nelson stated, "Five years ago, Hakeem Robinson and Leroy Whitaker stalked a man and gunned him down in broad daylight because of disputes and drill rap," in a commentary obtained by First Coast News. Nelson added, "Today, a jury held them accountable for their brazen crimes. This was an incredible effort by law enforcement and our team that takes two killers off our streets. Thank you to the jury for their time and dedication."
During the trial, it was revealed that McCormick had released a diss track that mocked the death of Addison, who was shot outside a club the prior year, resulting in not only his death but severe injuries to Robinson's father, brother, and cousin. Additional evidence presented during the proceedings incriminated Whitaker, who was in the getaway vehicle with a loaded gun, implicating his readiness to participate in the fatal encounter.
