Los Angeles firefighters responded early Monday to reports of a smoldering fire at a homeless encampment in North Hills, with suspicions of fireworks involvement. According to the FOX LA report, the blaze ignited in an empty lot, flanked by residences, on the 9200 block of N Langdon Avenue.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) took to the scene at around 07:36 AM. The department later released a statement, detailing their encounter with a rubbish fire that sprawled across a vacant 37,000 square foot lot. Preliminary reports "appears to involve fireworks," said Brian Humphrey of the LAFD

No casualties were reported, nor was there a direct threat to surrounding structures, quelling fears of a potential evacuation. "No injury. No imminent structure threat. No evacuation," confirmed the LAFD statement.

Fire officials have yet to confirm whether the alleged explosion heard at the site was indeed caused by fireworks, as initial reports suggested.
