The Los Angeles Police Department has issued a call to the public to aid in identifying possible additional victims of Ameen Zarinkhil, a 29-year-old traveling nurse apprehended on child exploitation allegations. According to NBC Los Angeles, Zarinkhil, who worked at West Hills Hospital and San Dimas Community Hospital, faces charges for attempting to meet a minor for sex acts, creating child pornography, and sending harmful material to a child.
Zarinkhil was released on bail, and authorities have expressed concerns that there might be other victims who have yet to come forward. In a move to gather more information, the LAPD has released Zarinkhil's booking photo. "The booking photograph is being released in the hope that victims will recognize him and provide critical information to our investigators," said LAPD officials in a statement obtained by KTLA.
Detected on July 12, Zarinkhil's case has since evolved to include additional charges. Court records show that he was granted freedom on $100,000 bail. The suspect's association with medical facilities and his position within the community raise further apprehension about the potential scope of his actions and the imperative need for possible victims to step forward.
The Los Angeles Police Department is strongly urging anyone who believes they were victimized by Zarinkhil to reach out. Detectives from the LAPD’s Harbor Area Vice Unit are working to ensure that any further victims feel safe to share their experiences. To provide information, the public can contact Harbor Vice detectives at (213) 280-1501 or submit tips anonymously through LA Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Additionally, "Anyone with information was urged to contact the LAPD immediately," as mentioned in a news release from the LAPD covered by CBS Los Angeles.
