A recent collision at South Desert Foothills Drive and West Desert Sunrise Road has left one driver with life-threatening injuries and has prompted an investigation by the LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section. The crash, which occurred last Thursday at around 5:50 p.m., involved a 2019 Acura MDX and a 2012 Chevrolet Cruz.

The scene, coupled with witness statements and dashcam video, indicated the Acura, driven by 19-year-old Roz Mirfenderski of Las Vegas, failed to yield while turning left on a flashing signal. Consequently, Anne Foster, 83, also a resident of Las Vegas, collided with Mirfenderski's vehicle while driving her Chevy Cruz southbound on a steady green light. The force of the impact redirected both vehicles to the southwest corner of the intersection.

Mirfenderski reported injuries and was transported to Summerlin Hospital for evaluation. Foster, on the other hand, suffered critical injuries and was taken to the UMC Trauma Center, where she was later admitted. According to the LVMPD's report, Mirfenderski cooperated with the investigators and displayed no signs of impairment at the time of the investigation.

Foster's current condition remains unclear as the inquiry into the accident continues. The LVMPD has not yet released further details on the potential causes or contributing factors to the crash beyond the initial failure to yield right of way.
