A Macomb Township man has been arraigned on charges of failing to pay child support, with over $40,000 in arrears, as per Macomb County officials. Charles Christie, 47, is facing a felony charge after it was alleged that he has not complied with a 2010 court order mandating child support payments.
Investigations revealed, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, that Christie had a string of nine Show Cause Hearings and had six prior Bench Warrants issued against him before this arraignment. After confirming that Christie has the ability to pay, authorities pressed the maximum charge available under the law. Christie was arraigned before Magistrate Ryan Zemke in the 41B District Court, who set his bond at $10,111, cash only.

It's a legal duty and a moral commitment," Lucido stated, as reported by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office. He stressed that child support is vital for children's basic needs and their right to a secure future.
