Philadelphia Fire Department (PFD) crews were met with a significant challenge on Monday when they were called shortly before 4:00 a.m. to a blaze at a large warehouse in the 6800 block of State Road in Tacony. The fire rapidly escalated, prompting Battalion 12 to elevate the situation to all-hands status and soon after, a second alarm was declared at 4:18 a.m. Aided by hazardous materials (HAZMAT) and Marine Units due to the site and structural concerns, the situation required the deployment of additional resources.

With the intensity of the flames growing, the PFD was forced to quickly to scale up their response. The situation precipitated a third alarm at 4:30 a.m., a fourth at 4:44 a.m., and an eventual fifth alarm at 5:17 a.m. This sequence of escalations brought more than 60 PFD apparatus to the scene, alongside over 175 personnel participating in various roles of support and fire suppression. According to the PFD's social media post, the fire was declared under control at 7:12 a.m.

The multi-agency response saw collaboration with the PPD, OEM, L&I, PECO, PGW, PDPH, PWD and the Second Alarmers, as stated on the PFD's Facebook page. These agencies worked in concert to manage the incident effectively and maintain safety protocols amidst the chaos of an active fire ground. The Fire Marshal's Office has been tasked to investigate to further uncover the cause and origin of the destructive event.

The PFD has not yet released information regarding whether there were any injuries during the incident or the extent of damage caused by the warehouse fire.
