A federal jury in Green Bay found Neegee J. Cloud, 32, a member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, guilty of burglary and assault with intent to murder. The charges relate to a violent attack on the Menominee Indian Reservation. The incident took place on September 20, 2024, in a home in Neopit, where Cloud was accused of attacking his girlfriend, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
During the trial, it was revealed that Cloud broke into a home and assaulted a woman, leaving her unconscious. He returned later to continue beating her, causing broken bones and severe soft tissue injuries. Some of the attack was recorded by the home's security cameras, which led the homeowner to contact authorities and resulted in Cloud’s arrest. The victim was seriously injured and required intensive care, including nearly two weeks in the ICU, and stayed in the hospital for about a month to recover, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Cloud faces up to 10 years in prison for burglary and up to 20 years for assault with intent to murder. Sentencing is scheduled for November 10 before Senior U.S. District Judge William C. Griesbach. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrew J. Maier and Alexander E. Duros. The Menominee Tribal Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked together on the investigation, as stated by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
