
As Labor Day weekend approaches in Metro Detroit, a wide range of events are set to take place. The 45th annual Hamtramck Labor Day Festival will feature a carnival and cultural programming, while the historic Franklin Cider Mill reopens for the season, ClickOnDetroit reported.
The Detroit Jazz Festival, recognized as the world’s largest free jazz event, will highlight 2025 Artist-in-Residence Jason Moran, Jeff Mills, and Detroit poet laureate Jessica Care Moore. Food-related events include the Detroit Sandwich Party at Eastern Market, a celebration of sandwiches, according to WDET.
Additional music and arts programming will be available at the Mussel Beach Music Festival and the Michigan Lottery Arts, Beats & Eats, The Detroit News reported. Royal Oak will host the “I Love the ’90s” tour featuring Vanilla Ice and C+C Music Factory.
Family activities include the Michigan State Fair, with livestock shows and butter sculptures. The Detroit News noted that attendees 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Detroit Month of Design also begins over the weekend, showcasing more than 500 creators at over 95 events.
