The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for help from the public to identify a person of interest connected to a burglary in Northeast D.C. Caught on surveillance yesterday, a burglary was reported at approximately 2:00 AM in the 600 block of 56th Street, Northeast. Police are now circulating images and a video of the suspect, hoping that community members may be able to assist with the investigation.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect allegedly broke into an establishment, committing theft, and then left the scene. The responding officers from the Sixth District arrived at the location, following the unlawful entry around the early morning hours.
The establishment's security systems recorded the person of interest, and the MPD has released these images. The Department urges anyone with information to step forward, reinforcing that the community's involvement is critical to maintaining safety and bringing those responsible to justice.
Suppose someone recognizes the individual in the footage or knows about this incident. In that case, the MPD has advised that they refrain from direct action and instead contact the authorities. As an incentive for helpful tips, the police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the burglar. "Anyone who can identify this person of interest, or who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411," the Metropolitan Police Department instructs.
