The search for the missing foster children, identified as Dereck Rodriguez and Jaden Hernandez, ended on Sunday afternoon. The boys were reported missing early Thursday from an apartment on the 300 block of South Virgil Avenue, near Lafayette Park, as per Hoodline.
It was speculated that the brothers might have been trying to reach their biological mother's residence, located in the Vermont Square area of South LA. The California Highway Patrol had previously identified the non-custodial mother, Jackeline Hernandez-Torres, age 30, as a suspect in the alleged abduction, as stated by Hoodline.
The initial Amber Alert, issued by the CHP and the LAPD, requested the public's assistance, asking anyone with information to call 9-1-1 immediately. According to a deactivated alert posted via CHP - Alerts, "This Amber Alert has been deactivated. The subjects have been located."
