The National Weather Service extended forecast for Manhattan indicates a 20% chance of morning showers today, with temperatures reaching a high near 77°F and a northeast wind blowing at 11 to 17 mph. Tonight, conditions will cool to a low around 62°F, as the wind shifts to the east and eases to about 7 mph.
The NWS forecasts similar conditions for Brooklyn, with the same chance of early showers as Manhattan. Winds will be stronger, blowing from the northeast at 14 to 18 mph, with gusts up to 28 mph. Skies will begin to clear tonight, with a low around 63°F and an east wind around 10 mph. In Queens, the NWS calls for a breezy start to the day with northeast winds between 14 and 20 mph, clearing later in the evening with a low near 62°F and lighter east winds.
The Bronx is expected to have a slightly cooler day with a high near 75°F and east winds between 13 and 17 mph. Skies are forecast to clear at night, with a low around 62°F and southeast winds decreasing to 7 to 9 mph. Staten Island will also see breezy conditions, with northeast winds ranging from 13 to 21 mph and a high near 76°F, falling to around 64°F under partly cloudy skies in the evening, according to the NWS.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for New York City, indicating an increased risk of life-threatening surf and rip currents from Tuesday through Thursday night. Ocean beach flooding and dune erosion are possible, especially during evening high tides from Tuesday to Friday. Wave heights may exceed 15 feet, and gale-force gusts are forecast from Thursday into Friday morning.
