Montgomery County is taking a sober look at the issue of driving under the influence, dedicating a special broadcast to raise awareness on the risks and consequences associated with impaired driving. "En Sintonía con el Concejo," a weekly show tailored for the Latino community on Radio America (WILC 900AM), will spotlight DUI awareness this Friday at 2 p.m., featuring prominent county members and individuals directly affected by the issue, according to Montgomery County's press release.
Montgomery County Councilmember Natali Fani-González, MCPD Sgt. Omar Guerrero, a DUI Court Program participant, Hector Martinez, and Dr. Luis Aguirre of the Latino Health Initiative will participate in a discussion on the legal, emotional, and societal impacts of driving under the influence (DUI). The event will provide information on the individual and community effects of DUI and outline prevention initiatives aimed at creating safer streets.
The Montgomery County Council has partnered with Radio America to provide information to the Latino population in the Washington metropolitan area. The collaboration includes opportunities for residents to ask questions, share concerns, and receive updates on matters before the Council and County services.
As part of the regular programming, host Marcela Rodriguez leads discussions with various guests on pertinent issues and available County programs. An upcoming episode will feature DUI as the main topic, including the personal experiences of Hector Martinez to illustrate its impact.
