Earlier yesterday, a house fire in Morrisville resulted in tragic losses, with two pets deceased and one person suffering serious burns. Firefighters from Morrisville were called to the scene on Downing Glen Drive just before 7 a.m. and swiftly engaged in rescue efforts. WRAL reports that one individual was extracted from the home, while another was forced to leap from the second-story window to escape the flames.
The individual who jumped was subsequently treated for serious burns before being transported to the burn center, according to a CBS17 update, and crews from neighboring fire departments in Cary and Apex joined in efforts to manage and finally extinguish what escalated to a 2-alarm fire, this collaboration was crucial in the fire containment but no injuries among the responders were reported.
Another dramatic twist came when the other occupant, found uninjured, was taken into custody by the Morrisville Police Department on an unrelated active warrant, details that ABC11 confirmed. Amid the sorrow were moments of tender triumph as firefighters resuscitated one surviving cat; unfortunately, a dog and another cat were not as fortunate and perished in the inferno.
The investigation into the cause of this devastating fire falls under the purview of the Wake County Fire Marshal 1.
