A tragic incident unfolded in Port Huron Township last Friday, when a 38-year-old motorcyclist from Marysville suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a pickup truck. According to ClickOnDetroit, the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by a 35-year-old Port Huron man, collided with the motorcyclist as the truck attempted to turn left out of a parking lot onto 24th Street.
Emergency responders arrived to find the motorcyclist unresponsive and bleeding heavily. The man was not wearing a helmet at the time, which complicated the severity of his injuries. Despite the harrowing scene, authorities have indicated that neither alcohol nor drugs were involved in the incident. The driver of the pickup is reportedly cooperating with investigators, having turned left and been hit by the motorcycle.
Further details provided by the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office indicate that the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The preliminary investigation suggests that the Silverado was exiting a private parking lot when it was struck by the Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by the victim from Marysville.
While the community grapples with the pain of such incidents, the St. Clair County Crash Investigation Team continues to piece together the events that led to the crash. No update on the motorcyclist’s condition has been provided since he was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, bleeding, and critically injured in what is remembered as an otherwise ordinary afternoon.
