The Metropolitan Police Department recently apprehended a man linked to a Northwest DC business break-in, according to an official release. Kenneth Burley, 37, of Northeast DC, was arrested by the Third District Crime Suppression Team officers on a warrant for failure to appear in DC Superior Court. MPD's statement details the additional burglary charges brought against him.
Having been wanted by the authorities, it was on Wednesday, August 20 that Burley was located and taken into custody. The arrest was the culmination of an investigation by the Crime Suppression Team, who discovered evidence linking Burley to a burglary that occurred in the 2400 block of 18th Street, Northwest. On August 13, around 2:26 a.m., the suspect forcibly gained entry into the establishment, making off with an undisclosed amount of property.
According to the MPD's report, Burley now faces charges of Burglary Two, indicating a non-residential break-in. The initial incident leading to this charge saw the burglar breaking into the business, making the theft, and fleeing before law enforcement could arrive on the scene.
