Early this morning, a pedestrian was fatally struck along State Route 167 in Puyallup, marking a tragic incident that disrupted the dawn's early light. The Washington State Patrol began receiving reports of the vehicle versus pedestrian crash shortly after 4:30 a.m., according to KIRO 7. Trooper John Dattilo provided details later that day, indicating that the pedestrian had been hit by a pickup truck while walking in the road, and may have been struck by a second vehicle, a garbage truck.

At the scene on River Road, the 35-year-old man who was crossing was hit by a pickup truck and, was pronounced dead at the scene, as FOX 13 Seattle reported. The drivers involved in the crash remained at the location and cooperated with law enforcement.

Adding to the investigations, troopers are now trying to confirm whether the garbage truck was indeed involved in a secondary collision with the victim. Trooper Dattilo explained to KOMO News that they are working to establish the sequence of events that led to the pedestrian's death. Notably, the initial driver was not found to be impaired at the time of the incident.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, as the investigation continues to piece together the occurrences of that early morning tragedy. The Washington State Patrol, is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward, to aid in their ongoing inquiry. Community members with potential insights or witness accounts are encouraged to reach out to the WSP as they work toward a thorough understanding of this fatal event.
