A routine traffic stop in Edgemoor led to an arrest and the seizure of an array of illicit items, including a loaded handgun and a prescription pad. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police were conducting patrols and spotted a traffic violation by a white Nissan Altima, according to a statement on social media from the New Castle County Police.
Upon initiating a stop on Northeast Boulevard at East 27th Street, detectives encountered the driver, identified as 47-year-old Harice Reddick from Philadelphia. The search of Reddick's vehicle uncovered a charged Ruger 57 handgun, complete with a 20-round magazine, and the means to forge prescriptions: a doctor’s pad alongside a fake stamp for signatures. Investigators also found marijuana, additional concealed weapons, and ammunition. Reddick has been charged with multiple felonies, including carrying concealed deadly weapons and possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Following his arrest, Reddick was taken to the New Castle County Police Headquarters. Here, he was slapped with a variety of charges ranging from two felony counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon to misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and a prescription drug that was not a controlled substance. The full list of charges reflects the gravity and scope of the infractions as detailed in the police report.
Justice of the Peace Court 2 arraigned Reddick, who was subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post the $48,202.00 cash bail required.
