Pinellas County is on the lookout for a new member to join its Unified Personnel System Board, per a recently published announcement. An individual is sought to fill a two-year term commencing January 1, 2026, representing the interests of the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners (BCC). Those interested in shaping the personnel policies and practices for a swath of county departments should consider tossing their hat in the ring. The application window is now officially open.
The Board, established under the Personnel Act (Florida Law 77-642), oversees personnel policies for various county offices and employees. Board members are responsible for reviewing and adopting classification and pay plans, revising rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with the Personnel Act, and establishing merit-based selection processes. In a statement obtained by Pinellas County News, the county provided details about the board’s duties and governance.
The seven-member board oversees several county entities, including the BCC, Clerk of the Circuit Court, and the Property Appraiser's office. Its responsibilities include personnel services such as recruitment, selection, training, and counseling for county staff. Meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, with additional sessions convened as necessary.
