
Details have emerged regarding a fatal officer-involved shooting incident in Pittsburgh's Greenfield neighborhood. Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance call and confronted 24-year-old Matthew Foster, who was armed with a knife. The confrontation led to the man being shot by two officers in a stairwell of a home on Murray Avenue.
The incident, taking place after 10 p.m., quickly escalated and concluded with first responders rushing to provide aid. Despite efforts to save his life, Foster was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. According to a report from WPXI, Foster was critically injured by the gunfire and succumbed to his injuries at the local hospital.
Allegheny County Police Department is leading the investigation into the shooting, as they seek to understand the events leading up to the fatal encounter. As disclosed by a public safety spokeswoman, Eliza Durham, and reported by WTAE, no officers were injured in the incident. Foster, identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner, did not reside at the Greenfield home where the incident occurred.
