The Placer County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) OHV team recently joined other law enforcement agencies in the 58th Annual Sierra Trek, a popular four-wheel-drive event that attracts off-road aficionados from across the region, held from August 7 to August 10. According to a social media post by the Placer County Sheriff's Office, this year's event was based at Meadow Lake and sprawled out along the Fordyce Creek Trail in Nevada County.

The Sierra Trek, which is hosted by the California Four Wheel Drive Association, has become a staple for those who delight in the challenges of navigating rugged terrain. Collaborating with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, and California State Parks, the PCSO OHV team played a crucial role in the event, which has seen its numbers swell with each successive year; the PCSO has been extending their hand in assistance to the Nevada County Sheriff's Office during the event for three years now.

Throughout the event, PCSO OHV deputies provided aid to several participants with a notable instance being a Jeep that had tipped onto its side, a precarious situation which concluded without injury and saw the team quickly restoring the vehicle to its wheels, allowing the Jeeper to proceed with the adventure. Such outcomes underscore the importance and effectiveness of the safety measures and rapid response teams that are part of these events.

The PCSO credits a grant from California State Parks for their capacity to respond effectively in difficult terrain, boasting a Jeep Wrangler at their Tahoe Station that's specifically calibrated for such off-road rescues and interventions.
