Nevada state services were disrupted by a ransomware attack on a Sunday morning, affecting agencies including the DMV and social services. Timothy Galluzi, Executive Director of the Governor's Technology Office, said, "Our state data center operations team detected anomalous activity in our server infrastructure," which was confirmed as a cyber intrusion, according to FOX5 Vegas. Several services were halted, leaving citizens unable to access programs like SNAP, Medicaid, child care, and job support. Galluzi added, "Our ongoing investigation has found evidence that indicates some data has been infiltrated, or moved outside of our state network, by malicious actors," as reported by News 3 LV.

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services cannot issue new benefits but is still accepting paper applications. Other areas, such as cannabis compliance and agriculture inspections, are operating with temporary systems. SNAP payments were not affected, but initial applications have experienced delays, as mentioned by 8 News Now.

Officials have not identified who is behind the cyberattack or their motives. The FBI is investigating and has requested any information related to the incident. Residents of Nevada are advised to watch for scams that could try to steal personal or financial information.
