The City of Reno has installed new ADA restrooms at Idlewild, Huffaker, and Manzanita Parks. The project was funded with $1,056,000 in Congressional Community Project Funding, according to the City of Reno.

Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, along with Congressman Mark Amodei, helped secure $1 million in Fiscal Year 2022 Congressional Community Project Funding through HUD for Reno park improvements. In November 2023, the city council approved $808,280 to buy prefabricated ADA restrooms, which Cutting Edge Construction LLC will install. “Nevada’s outdoor spaces are for everyone to enjoy,” Cortez Masto said. Ward 2 Councilmember Naomi Duerr added, “These selected parks see a lot of parkgoers, and these improvements will allow everyone to enjoy our parks even more,” as reported by the City of Reno.

Idlewild Park will have its water turned off from September 3 to September 12, for a backflow upgrade. The Kiddieland restroom will reopen after the water is restored, and the Snowflake restroom will be closed for a new energy panel installation. Portable restrooms will be available during this time. The upgraded restrooms are ADA-compliant and have timed locks. More information is on the city’s Parks and Recreation webpage, as stated by the City of Reno.
