West Street Plaza will host “Flicks on the Bricks: Outdoor Movie Nights” beginning on Friday and continuing on the first Friday of each month through October. The free events are presented by the Cordillera International Film Festival with partial sponsorship from the City of Reno.
Reno’s downtown movie nights begin on Friday with “Barbie,” followed by “National Treasure” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” in the following months. Vice Mayor Kathleen Taylor said, “We’ve been working hard to give our downtown corridor a fresh look, and free community events like these movie nights are a wonderful way for families to come together and see all the new improvements.” The events take place at West Street Plaza, with festivities starting at 8 p.m. and movies at sundown. Activities include lawn games, food trucks, and drinks from Sierra Tap House. Seating is limited, and attendees are advised to bring blankets or lawn chairs and arrive early, as reported by the City of Reno.
Reno will host “Flicks on the Bricks: Outdoor Movie Nights” as part of efforts to revitalize the downtown corridor following the Virginia Street Placemaking and Truckee River Studies. Emily Skyle, Executive Director of the Cordillera International Film Festival, said, “We believe in the incredible power of film to unite people.” She added, “Each screening is a chance to spark conversation, foster connection, and showcase stories that resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.” Event details are available on the City’s Events Calendar, according to the City of Reno.
