The City of Round Rock is currently showcasing an art exhibit that turns the spotlight on its own employees, revealing a rich tapestry of artistic talent among its workforce. The Downtown-based City Arts Center is hosting the "Artists at Work" exhibition, which includes an array of artistic expressions, ranging from vivid photography to intricate textiles. On display until Sept. 6, the exhibition features 30 city employees whose day jobs span across various departments, including Arts and Culture to Sports Management, and Tourism.

Gallery Manager Christina Rudofsky spoke about the gratification of sharing these creative endeavors: "It’s so gratifying to help share artists’ creativity," she said, according to a Round Rock, Texas, Government announcement. She also expressed excitement over the diversity present in the show, "There's so much variety in here and in every way – so many different departments represented, so many forms and styles of art, so much variety in creative expression." The exhibit is held at the City Arts Center's current location, adjacent to City Hall, which is anticipated to move into the historic Griffith Building later this year.

In a demonstration of how personal passions intersect with professional lives, Crisis Response Program Manager for the Round Rock Fire Department, Annie Burwell, has found that photography provides a respite from the demands of her critical role. "Now, even though I’m still a little shy about it, I’m really happy to see my photos on display," she noted, revealing the benefits of such hobbies in fostering work-life harmony.

Round Rock invites the public to an evening reception to celebrate "Artists at Work" on Aug. 22, from 4-7 p.m. at the City Arts Center. The center's summer hours are Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering a chance to view the diverse artworks free of charge to anyone who visits the gallery in pursuit of cultural enrichment.
