In a developing case that seems like a screenplay plot, a young man from Wicomico County has been accused of impersonating a police officer, and the Maryland State Police are calling for the public's aid. Nineteen-year-old Jayden Ballard from Salisbury now faces charges after allegedly conducting traffic stops while donning a Maryland State Police uniform, the same agency reported on its website.
It was on February 12 that Ballard received his criminal summons, charged with two felonies: impersonation of a police officer and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. Following a tip, investigators learned that Ballard may have used an authentic Maryland State Police vehicle to execute the stops across the county, according to details provided by the official state police release.
The Maryland State Police have reached out to any persons who might have come into contact with Ballard during this timeframe. They implore anyone with potentially relevant information to step forward. Senior Trooper Dick, a contact for the case, can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 410-749-3101.
