A man has been detained after he was accused of stealing metal parts and sports equipment from a construction site at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe Springs. According to KTLA, the Whittier Police Department apprehended 41-year-old Mark Navarro, an employee at the construction site, and recovered all of the stolen goods worth an estimated $10,000.

As per NBC Los Angeles, the incident occurred on Monday night, when Navarro supposedly cut through the fence to enter the high school's campus, taking 55 sheets of aluminum, two gator carts, goal posts, and other turf material. Following the sly act of theft, detectives managed to track down the suspect.

Los Angeles County jail records show no bail or court date for Navarro but indicate he was arrested on a felony, as reported by KTLA. The specific charges remain unclear.

An Instagram post from the Whittier Police Department explained how the School Resource Officer played a crucial role in identifying Navarro as the suspect. The post, found on their official page, read, "With the help of the School Resource Officer (SRO), Santa Fe Springs Detectives were able to identify an employee of the construction site, 41-year-old Mark Navarro, resident of Santa Ana, as the suspect in this case." After his arrest, the apprehended man was promptly transported to the Whittier PD Jail.
