Seattle Police detained six people following a brawl in the Sand Point neighborhood, where a 19-year-old male suffered severe injuries. According to a report by SPD Blotter, the altercation occurred on Tuesday evening, and police responded to the scene near the 6800 block of 62nd Avenue Northeast around 5:45 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities witnessed a group engaged in violent conflict and subsequently identified and apprehended three male and three female suspects, with ages ranging between 15 and 23.
Witnesses at the scene and surveillance footage from the apartment complex led police to conclude that the group had assaulted the 19-year-old both inside and outside the apartment, the violence spilling into the courtyard between two residential buildings. An attempt to intervene by a building employee was also met with aggression as they too became a target of the assailants. The victim, found bleeding and struggling to breathe, received on-site treatment by Seattle Fire Department medics before his transfer to a nearby hospital for further care.
The apprehended individuals face several charges as mentioned in the SPD Blotter report, including third and fourth degree assault and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. While the juveniles and adults remain in custody, detectives from Seattle's Homicide and Assault Unit are diligently continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the violent encounter.
