The Seattle Police Department is in the midst of a manhunt for an arsonist behind the fatal house fire on June 4, which claimed the life of a 65-year-old woman in the north area of the city. According to the SPD, the blaze that enveloped the home on the 3800 block of Sunnyside Avenue North was an act of arson.

In their efforts to ensure public safety, law enforcement urges anyone with knowledge relevant to the case to step forward. A statement obtained by the SPD confirmed that "the real suspect remains at large and may still pose a danger." With the suspect still unidentified and at large, Chief Shon Barnes emphasizes the crucial role that the public plays in solving such crimes, requiring vigilance and cooperation from the community.

An earlier lead in the investigation led to the arrest of a man whose appearance was in line with that caught on surveillance footage. However, following the emergence of new evidence that exonerated him, police and prosecutors acted swiftly to ensure his release. The SPD has admitted that the true perpetrator of the June 4 arson remains at large, and anyone who has information that can aid in the investigation should contact SPD's Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000, with the option to remain anonymous.

The SPD reassures the public, as stressed in their appeal, that "by sharing what you know, you can help us protect your neighbors and honor the memory of the woman whose life was taken far too soon."
