
A devastating house fire in Waldorf, Maryland, claimed the lives of six individuals, including four children, on Sunday morning. As reported by FOX Baltimore, the blaze at the residence in the 3000 block of Declaration Court North was responded to by the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and nearby departments after a call came in around 8:40 a.m. Despite the swift response, the fire quickly escalated to a two-alarm inferno.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters were confronted with reports of individuals trapped inside, and six fatalities were confirmed as a result of the incident. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office continues to investigate the cause of the fire, which at this time has not been linked to any criminal activity. Three of the residence's other inhabitants were unharmed; one was able to escape the flames, while the other two were not present during the tragic event.
Further details on the tragedy come via WMAR 2 News, stating that the fire is believed to have started on an enclosed porch to the side of the home. The names and ages of the deceased have not been disclosed, pending an autopsy to confirm their identities.
